GREETINGS FROM OUR PRESIDENT

It is my honour and privilege to serve the Academy of RV Tucker Study Clubs as President for the 2007-2008 term. I hope everyone is looking forward to a good year of study club meetings and Academy activities.

We had an extremely successful Annual Meeting in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Halifax Study Club did an incredible job of hosting this meeting. Their group, led by Maureen Andrea, took care of every little detail with a lot of well planned activities and events.

The highland dancing (and later the spirited participant’s conga line dancing) at the lobster Ceildah and the beautiful afternoon at Peggy’s Cove were definitely highlights. The clinical operations were impressive and the speakers were great. The host club did a wonderful job of organizing this truly memorable annual meeting. This kind of meeting is fun for members and spouses and children alike. With each of the attendees taking positive reports back to their individual study clubs it is sure to increase attendance at future annual meetings. The Annual meetings are the major function of our Academy and the element that binds us together as an Academy, they are well worth attending. Thank you to the Halifax group for hosting such a successful meeting.

The excitement is building for our next Annual Meeting which is a combined meeting with the American Academy of Gold Foil Operators:Phoenix, Arizona - November 12-16th, 2008. The host hotel is the Westin Keirland Resort and Spa. The Ellsperman Lecturer is Dr. Terry Tanaka, and The Don Fournier Lecturer is Dr.Terry Donovan. Everyone should dust off their cowboy hats for the Western Jamboree/Hoedown at “Tooth Acres” the Margetis Home. The weather in Phoenix in November will be very warm -- it will be a nice time to get some sunshine.

Also mark your calendars for: Vancouver, BC - September 16-20th, 2009. Plans are underway for Hawaii in 2010.

We are encouraging new members into the Academy and urge your clubs to fill all your member spots and possibly introduce young members by inviting them as guests your study club meetings, or to the Annual Meeting.

I wish to remind all of you that are attending the Midwinter Meeting in Chicago that you are all invited to the Friends of Tucker dinner at the University Club of Chicago Friday, February 22nd, 2008. The tickets will be available through Jenson, who will again be helping to host this meeting. This has always been a wonderful event so please plan to attend. I look forward to seeing you there.

I wish you all a successful year!

Margaret Webb
