Question:
I recently bought some mat Gold from williams Ivoclar and it seems old and very dense. Its difficult to pack . The Williams people don't seem receptive to me returning it. Do you know of any other gold company who makes mat gold ? Perhaps there is something I can do to the mat gold I currently have to make it more easily condensable ? Please let me know !

Dr. Dick Tucker, Sr Answers: Dear Murray:
"I do not know of any way to treat your mat gold to make it more workable. I think it is by nature, more dense than gold foil. I do not know of any other company that makes mat gold besides Williams/Ivoclair. If you decide that it is not usable where it must adapt to the wall of a cavity preparation, you can save it for those larger cases where you need to build up a lot of bulk in the internal of the restoration and then surface it with gold foil. Line the preparation with gold foil, build up the central mass with the mat gold, and then surface it again with gold foil. This might be one way to use it up.
I hope this helps a little."

Question:
Since Elasticon has been discontinued, what impression material should I use?
Dr. Dick Tucker, Sr Answers:
"I personally use the low viscosity "TAKE ONE" by Kerr. I chose it due to its similar handling properties to the old "ELASTICON". I want to stress that any PV silicone on the market is accurate and will do just fine. It's really a matter of personal preference."
