IMPRESSION TECHNIQUE FOR PINS


Vented Pin - used for taking impression of pins, slots or pots

Step 1. Take a new 30 gauge needle and cut off the tip with a pair of sharp scissors. Make sure the lumen of the needle is not occluded. Bend needle to form a gentle curve.

Step 2. Place needle into the base of the hole or channel and inject the impression material into hole or channel along side the needle. Withdraw the needle as the impression material is being injected. Complete the injection of the preparation and insert the tray.

Step 3. Follow THE STEP-BY-STEP IMPRESSION Technique to complete the impression

Shooshan Technique - alternate pin impression Technique.

Step 1. Place a plastic or nylon pin with a small head of proper length .001' smaller than the diameter of the twist drill in the pin hole.

Step 2. Check to see that the impression tray will not touch the pins.

Step 3. Follow THE STEP-BY-STEP IMPRESSION Technique to complete the impression.

Note: A plastic or nylon pin of .001' smaller diameter than the pin size used to take the impression is used for the wax pattern.

A head can be made on the pin by heating one end of the pin and placing it against a cold metal instrument. Pins can be fabricated from the correct diameter of fishing leader.
