IMPRESSION
TECHNIQUE FOR PINS
Vented Pin - used for taking impression of pins, slots or pots
Step 1. Take a new 30 gauge needle and cut off the tip
with a pair of sharp scissors. Make sure the lumen of the needle
is not occluded. Bend needle to form a gentle curve.
Step 2. Place needle into the base of the hole or channel
and inject the impression material into hole or channel along
side the needle. Withdraw the needle as the impression material
is being injected. Complete the injection of the preparation and
insert the tray.
Step 3. Follow THE STEP-BY-STEP IMPRESSION Technique to
complete the impression
Shooshan Technique - alternate pin impression Technique.
Step 1. Place a plastic or nylon pin with a small head
of proper length .001' smaller than the diameter of the twist
drill in the pin hole.
Step 2. Check to see that the impression tray will not
touch the pins.
Step 3. Follow THE STEP-BY-STEP IMPRESSION Technique to
complete the impression.
Note: A plastic or nylon pin of .001' smaller diameter
than the pin size used to take the impression is used for the
wax pattern.
A head can be made on the pin by heating one end of the pin and
placing it against a cold metal instrument. Pins can be fabricated
from the correct diameter of fishing leader.
